You can bet your sweet "S" on it.

If city council gets the Votes, U PAY! Come on people, if no one shows up for the votes it will be a landslide. There are over 200,000 city employees to benefit from it. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate every city worker but they are the highest paid in the nation already, are they entitled to a 23% pay raise? phone tax or whatever it was City council made us pay was illegal and faces a pissed off Judge now. So the smooth city council is hiding this prop S and making you think they are saving you some money by offering a 9% tax or whatever it is when actually you were shafted before and now they want you to give it to them anyway!.

HELL NO, there shouldn't of been a tax to begin with, they are scamming us again.! Be there and Vote NO Feb 5th to stop them from taxing the "S" outa us!

We will be paying for their generosity to the highest paid city employees and I think the city council is included.

Yea Greuel works slick Willy deals and throw hundreds of families out into the street who were protected by rent control so she can allow her special interest condos to be made and I think personally it is so Wendy Greuel can benefit by sneaky deals with these construction companies buying their materials from yes you got it, Wendy Greuel's Frontier Building Supply who just happens to be in the North Hollywood area.

Hhhmmm doesn't take a wizard to figure that one out.

But look at this phone tax they are suggesting, they already have been billing us with a tax that is ILLEGAL, it is before a judge. They have already rammed it up your butts and made you pay an unfair tax. But that's days gone by, now they want to do it right and fool you into voting yes for Prop S, I think it is called. Well not only vote no, put a Hell next to it, HELL NO! wee don't want no stinking added tax so you can squander our tax money.

Everyone must vote and you must vote NO on "S" it stand for sucks! It stands for Selfish greedy corrupt city council manipulating your money...

Please remember, you are sure as hell going to have 300 thousand plus city workers voting YES YES YES so they get their pay increase paid for, so go out and VOTE NO! Save yourself money and stop the corruption of City Council.

How dare they slide through a tax that is illegal, they did it and we have been paying it. They got caught and now they want to try and bleed you with your eyes open. Yes fools, vote yes on "S" and give them money to throw around legally. Give themselves a damn pay increase.

Hey they deserve it don't they? Now the hundreds of homeless people can also pay more taxes so the rich get richer and they can eat the pavement they sleep on as far as the city council is concerned.

We see how Greuel was warned by City attorney back in 06 to put a freeze o the evictions. Did she? Hell no, she just id it quietly and with the aid of the planning commission fix, it was easier then slapping you people with her former illegal tax which "S" is trying to make up for the loss.

WAKE UP, it is PAY ) or pay 10%...If you don't vote then you can be sure to take 10% of your bill and give it to the criminals who so carefully corrupt city council. Like in Greuel's district, the fix can be in with planning and city council already knowing what they are going to decide but.... that doesn't stop it from happening.

Better then not saying the "N" word, Oh mighty city council of Los Angeles, stop treating us like one .

Phone-tax measure would benefit bureaucrats most
Article Last Updated: 12/20/2007 09:29:31 PM PST

It's now official. The phone tax that will appear on the Feb. 5 Los Angeles ballot is not about police or fire protection, or any of the other bogus pretenses city officials have come up with to justify it. Its primary purpose is to fund outlandish pay hikes for city bureaucrats.

That's the word from the Los Angeles City Council, which approved the 23 percent pay hikes Wednesday.

Council members insist that should Measure S - the phony phone tax - fail, the unions representing city bureaucrats will have to come back to the bargaining table, and their sweetheart deal come under re-consideration.

That should come as little surprise. It's no coincidence that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the council drafted Measure S at the very time they were finalizing raises for 200,000 city employees.

As Councilman Bernard Parks now puts it, "If the February election or any other downturn is significant, (the unions) clearly agree they are willing to come back and work with the city ... on how we will address the structural deficit or any deficits."

There you have it.

So when you vote on Measure S, ask yourself this question: Do you think non-emergency L.A. city workers have earned a 23 percent, five-year pay raise?

And remember, this pay raise would come on top of regular "step" increases that can add as much as 5.5 percent a year to workers' pay. So for many bureaucrats, the extra 23 percent is well beyond the simple

cost-of-living boost, it's pure gravy.

And to pay for that gravy, the city is asking voters to make legitimate an illegal phone tax that City Hall has been imposing for years - and which courts are almost certain to throw out.

Worse yet, the new tax would cover many services the old one didn't - like DSL, wireless or Voice over Internet Protocol. Which is to say, the new tax could well cost Angelenos more than the old, even though city leaders are trying to pass it off as a "tax cut."

We'll leave it up to voters to decide whether they want to pay higher taxes to subsidize the good life for city bureaucrats. But they should be under no illusions: When deciding the fate of Measure S, that's exactly what's at stake.

Here is what tax payer Jim Britten had to say about it (taken from the daily news Dec 21st issue)

Defeating A SCAM!

Re "S for Sweetheart" (Our Opinions, Dec 21):

With only 181,560 ballots cast in the March 2007 election, what do you think the chances are of this phony phone-tax scam being defeated? You can bet that 200,000 city workers along with their voting-age relatives and friends will be sure to register and vote for a 23percent pay increase.

There is only one solution against having the city reaching deeper into your pocket than it already is. Remember, you must be registered at your current address at least 15 days prior to the election. Register today while you're thinking about it and on Feb. 5, 2008, go to the polls and vote NO on S.
